Description

This Spaghetti Pie is a delightful twist on a classic, featuring layers of mozzarella, ricotta, and a savory meat sauce. Perfect for quick dinners and family meals, it’s a comforting dish everyone will enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon fresh
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or italian sausage
  • ½ small onion diced
  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 cups pasta sauce or marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef over medium-high heat and drain any excess fat. Stir in the diced onion and cook for about 3 minutes until slightly softened. Add the drained canned tomatoes and pasta sauce, then let simmer uncovered for 10 minutes until thickened.
  3. Cook spaghetti in salted water until al dente, then drain well.
  4. Place the drained spaghetti in the prepared pie plate. Mix in the butter until evenly coated. Stir in the eggs and grated parmesan cheese, pressing the mixture down to form a crust.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, parsley, and basil. Spread this cheese mixture over the spaghetti crust before topping it with the meat sauce.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add mozzarella cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is browned and bubbly. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute lean ground turkey for beef for a healthier version.
Add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra flavor and nutrition.
This dish can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated, making it great for leftovers.
