Description

These Mexican Inspired Brownies are a delightful twist on your classic brownie, featuring rich chocolate melted with butter, a hint of spice from cayenne and cinnamon, and topped with a dusting of cocoa sugar. This easy recipe is ideal for satisfying your sweet tooth at any gathering!


Ingredients

  • 4 oz baking chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13-inch pan with foil and cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine baking chocolate and butter. Heat on HIGH for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Mix in sugar.
  3. Add eggs, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon of cayenne, salt, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa, stirring well to combine.
  4. Gently mix in the flour, followed by mini chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness (should have some crumbs, not wet batter). Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
  6. For the frosting, whisk together powdered sugar, ¼ teaspoon of cocoa, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne. Dust over cooled brownies.

Notes

Ensure the chocolate is melted completely for a smooth batter.
For an extra kick, adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your taste.
