Description

This Horchata Latte (Hot or Iced!) is a delightful mix of rice, cinnamon, and milk that offers a rich, creamy flavor. Perfect for a refreshing drink or a stylish morning pick-me-up!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Ice (for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rinsed rice in a bowl with four cups of water for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Blend the rice and water mixture until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl to remove solids.
  4. Stir in the sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract until fully dissolved.
  5. For hot horchata, heat the milk in a saucepan until warm but not boiling, and mix in the strained rice mixture. Adjust sweetness as needed.
  6. For iced horchata, pour the strained mixture over ice and add cold milk. Stir well to combine.

Notes

You can adjust the sweetness based on personal preference.
Feel free to top your iced version with whipped cream for extra indulgence.
