- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add grated garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant.
- Stir in dried oregano and crushed red pepper, cooking for 1 minute until aromatic.
- Add crushed tomatoes and sugar, then reduce heat to low.
- Simmer for 20 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Mix in unsalted butter and season with salt and pepper to taste, then let cool to room temperature.
Notes
For a more robust flavor, let the sauce sit in the fridge for a couple of hours before using.
This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
