Instructions
- Whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cornstarch in a medium bowl; set aside.
- Cream softened unsalted butter and sugar in a large bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture, stirring in the sour cream until combined.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients with wet until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Shape dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F when ready to bake.
- Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into circles with a 3-inch cookie cutter.
- Arrange cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8–9 minutes, just until barely golden.
- Cool cookies completely before frosting them.
- Beat softened butter until fluffy then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla to create frosting.
- Gradually add milk until a smooth, spreadable consistency is reached, adjusting with more milk if needed.
- Divide frosting into three bowls, tint each with food coloring.
- Frost cookies using a piping bag or offset spatula and decorate with Halloween sprinkles.
