Description

These French Onion Burgers are a delightful meal featuring caramelized onions, creamy brie, and a tangy sauce—perfect for a satisfying quick dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 lbs grass-fed 85/15 ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dehydrated minced onions
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 brioche buns, toasted in butter
  • 8 oz double cream brie, cut into slices
  • 2 cups arugula
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions and coat well, then cover and cook for 10 minutes until starting to wilt. Lower the heat, add thyme, salt, and pepper, then continue cooking until caramelized. Stir in dijon and balsamic, then set aside.
  2. Chop half of the cooled caramelized onions and mix with ground beef, Worcestershire, dijon, dehydrated onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Form into 4 patties and create an indentation in the center of each.
  3. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, dijon, horseradish, and honey; season with salt and pepper.
  4. Preheat grill to 450 F and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side. Let rest and top with brie slices while warm.
  6. Spread burger sauce on toasted buns, place patties on top, add remaining caramelized onions and arugula, then serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, use grass-fed beef for the patties.
Ensure the grill is properly preheated for nice sear marks on the burgers.
Feel free to add extra toppings like pickles or bacon for a unique twist.
