Description
This Elegant Graduation Cake features layers of yellow and chocolate cake, topped with a fondant cap and diploma, making it perfect for any graduation celebration.

- 2 Yellow sheet cake
- 2 Chocolate sheet cake
- 1 Cotton candy cake
- 10 cups American buttercream frosting (Tinted yellow with gel food coloring)
- 4 cups Marshmallow fondant (2 cups of black and 2 cups of white)
- 1 batch Rice krispie treats (Can also use store-bought )
Instructions
- Bake 2 yellow sheet cakes (9×13), 2 chocolate sheet cakes (9×13), and 1 cotton candy dome cake (5 inch diameter). Set aside to cool completely.
- Prepare the yellow buttercream frosting while cakes are baking.
- For the cap, place the dome cake on a cake board and frost it with buttercream. Chill for 20 minutes.
- Roll out black fondant and cover the chilled dome cake. Smooth out and trim excess fondant.
- Cut a square piece of cardboard for the cap top, color edges with a black edible marker, spread icing and cover with black fondant.
- Use a small circle cutter to make a circle of fondant to attach to the cap top with corn syrup, adding a ribbon underneath.
- Attach the cardboard cap to the dome cake using melted chocolate or royal icing and steam to remove excess powdered sugar.
- Shape rice krispie treats into a cylinder, ice with buttercream, cover with white fondant, and add fondant circles at both ends, wrapping with a red ribbon.
- Assemble the cake by placing the 2 chocolate sheet cakes side by side, icing them and stacking the 2 yellow sheet cakes on top.
- Pipe roses on the cake using a piping bag with yellow icing and a star tip.
- Place dowels in the cake where the diploma and cap will go, and position them accordingly.
- Cut out letters for 'Congratulations Class of 2024' from fondant and stick them on the cake board with icing.
Notes
Make sure cakes are completely cooled before frosting.
Use different colors of fondant to personalize the cap and diploma if desired.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for best freshness.
