Description

These Easy Donut Holes are a delightful treat made with simple ingredients like all-purpose flour and heavy cream, perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings. Their irresistible flavor and golden texture make them the ideal snack for any occasion, bringing joy to both kids and adults alike!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • Toppings – see notes.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add heavy whipping cream and milk; stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough forms, resulting in a gooey mixture.
  3. Scoop 1 tablespoon-sized balls of dough using a cookie scoop. You can place them straight into hot oil or on a baking sheet lined with parchment for chilling.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F in a 3-quart saucepan. Use a thermometer to monitor the oil temperature. Place a cookie sheet lined with paper towels nearby.
  5. Fry 3-4 donut holes at a time without overcrowding the pan to maintain oil temperature. Fry for about 3-5 minutes until dark golden brown, flipping halfway through.
  6. Remove from oil using a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined baking sheet. Let cool slightly before rolling in cinnamon sugar or glazing.

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature is well-monitored to avoid unevenly cooked donut holes.
Experiment with different toppings to customize your donut holes to your taste.
These can be enjoyed fresh or stored for a few days in an airtight container.
