This Crispy Pan-Fried Cabbage with Bacon & Onions is a delightful dish that combines crispy bacon and tender cabbage. It’s quick to prepare and delivers irresistible flavors, making it a perfect choice for a healthy meal or quick dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices bacon, chopped into small pieces
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 large green cabbage, chopped into square pieces
- 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
- salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, to taste
Instructions
- Fry the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, about 5-8 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon, leaving some drippings in the pan.
- Lower the heat to medium and sauté the onions until they're soft and translucent, approximately five minutes. Then add the garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add the chopped cabbage, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet, mixing well. Cover the pan and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally after removing the lid.
- Stir in the cooked bacon and, if desired, sprinkle with red pepper flakes before serving.
Notes
Using thick-cut bacon adds extra flavor and texture to the dish.
Feel free to adjust the Cajun seasoning according to your spiciness preference.
