- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In a 12-inch oven safe skillet, preferably cast iron, heat over low heat for about 5 minutes. Melt the butter completely in the skillet and stir in the sugars using a wooden spoon. Once melted, turn off the heat (or remove skillet from burner).
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks, then add them to the skillet mixture. Stir immediately to prevent the eggs from cooking. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the dry ingredients into the skillet mixture, stirring until just mixed. It will be thick, so take your time mixing it in! Wipe away any excess flour from the sides of the skillet with a damp paper towel if necessary.
- Fold in the chocolate chips. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until mostly set in the center. Finish with a sprinkle of flaked sea salt on top.
- Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Make sure to stir quickly after adding the egg mixture to prevent cooking from residual heat.
Use a damp paper towel to clean the skillet’s edge if needed, ensuring a clean presentation.
For a richer flavor, use a mix of milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
