Ingredients
Scale
- 30 ounces chocolate chip cookie dough refrigerated
- 11 ounces caramels
- ¼ cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Slice a little more than half of the cookie dough into 1/4" rounds and arrange in a single layer on a parchment-lined 9-inch square baking pan.
- Press the cookie dough gently to form an even layer.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown, then remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- In a microwave-safe container, combine the unwrapped caramels and evaporated milk, heating on high for 1 minute, then stirring. Continue heating in 30-second intervals until completely melted.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cooled cookie crust.
- Drizzle the melted caramel over the chocolate chips.
- Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel topping, ensuring it doesn't need to be perfect.
- Return the Carmelitas to the oven and bake for another 12-15 minutes, or until they start to turn golden brown.
- Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Before cutting and serving, let them sit out for 15 minutes.
Notes
Ensure the caramel mixture is smooth for an even drizzle.
Allow enough cooling time for the best cutting results.
These can be served warm or chilled.
