Ingredients
Scale
- 3 granny smith apples
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- a pinch of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 12 ounces pound cake
- 8 ounces cool whip
- 6 tablespoons caramel sauce
Instructions
- Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and place them in a medium saucepan.
- Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, and stir well.
- Simmer the mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar dissolves into a syrup. Let it cool slightly.
- Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes. Prepare a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped) filled with Cool Whip.
- Begin assembling by layering pound cake cubes in serving glasses. Top with a layer of the apple mixture, then drizzle with caramel sauce, and finish with a layer of Cool Whip.
- Repeat the layering with pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip, ending with caramel on top. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
