Description

This margarita recipe features a delightful blend of añejo tequila and homemade sweet and sour mix. With fresh lime and lemon juices, it offers a refreshing taste. Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 57 small limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)

Instructions

  • Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan to make sugar syrup until dissolved, then cool it down.
  • Combine the fresh lime juice and fresh lemon juice with the cooled syrup to create the sweet and sour mix.
  • Prepare the glass rim by rubbing lime and dipping it in kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
  • Shake the añejo tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur in a shaker with ice until it's chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

For a sweeter margarita, adjust the amount of sugar in the syrup to your taste.
Feel free to experiment with different tequilas or orange liqueurs to customize your drink.
