- 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
- 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
- 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
- 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 – 7 small limes)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)
Instructions
- Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan to make sugar syrup until dissolved, then cool it down.
- Combine the fresh lime juice and fresh lemon juice with the cooled syrup to create the sweet and sour mix.
- Prepare the glass rim by rubbing lime and dipping it in kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
- Shake the añejo tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur in a shaker with ice until it's chilled.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For a sweeter margarita, adjust the amount of sugar in the syrup to your taste.
