Description

These Baked Pumpkin Donuts are irresistibly delicious, combining pumpkin puree and spice cake mix for a quick treat that evokes warmth and comfort. Ideal for breakfast or as a delightful dessert, this easy homemade recipe will surely impress anyone who loves fall flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box spice cake mix
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a donut pan with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, melted butter, and egg until well mixed and smooth.
  3. Add the spice cake mix and stir until just combined; make sure not to overmix as the batter will be thick.
  4. Transfer the thick batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag and pipe it into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
  5. Bake the donuts for 8 to 12 minutes, depending on your pan size; for 3-inch donuts, about 9 minutes should suffice; they should spring back lightly when pressed.
  6. Once baked, let the donuts sit in the pan for 5 minutes, then carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
  7. In a separate small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  8. To finish, dip each donut in melted butter, then toss in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.

Notes

Ensure to use pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling for the best results.
Adjust cinnamon sugar coating to your taste; feel free to add more cinnamon if desired.
These donuts can be stored in an airtight container for several days.
