Description

This Apple Bundt Cake combines the warm flavors of apples and spices, making it an inviting choice for gatherings or cozy evenings. With simple prep and common ingredients like applesauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon, this moist cake is a delightful treat for all dessert lovers looking for easy homemade recipes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups (420g) all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup (198g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (213g) brown sugar
  • ¾ cup (149g) vegetable oil
  • 1 cup (255g) applesauce, sweetened or unsweetened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ½3 cups diced apples, cut into ¼-inch chunks
  • ½ cup (107g) brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • â…” cup (76g) powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 10 to 12 cup bundt pan with butter and flour, ensuring all crevices are coated.
  2. Peel, core, and dice the apples into ¼ inch chunks. Aim for 2.5-3 cups total for even baking.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
  5. Add half of the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gradually add the remaining dry ingredients and diced apples, mixing just until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 60 minutes. If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil, and continue baking for an additional 10 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 to 20 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Consider adding walnuts or pecans for added crunch.
Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
